Controversies & Protests regarding the ban of hijab in colleges

A very popular saying is that one thing leads to another, what's required is just a small push. In December a government girls college in Udupi did not allow 6 girls to enter the college because they were wearing hijab. The college officials closed the gate while they tried to enter the college premises and asked them to remove their hijabs.

The intention behind the authorities taking such an action was to avoid discrimination on college premises and to avoid following any culture and traditions inside the school but the question here is if you are trying to avoid discrimination then why not ask Punjabis to remove their turban, why not ask Hindus to stop wearing bindis, and tika to college.

Every individual has the right to follow their traditions and culture, if someone is not comfortable removing their hijabs or turban they shouldn't be forced to do so. Threatening young girls on the pretext of education is illogical.

Any law does not justify this action, and cannot. How can wearing a scarf become such a religious issue? For the people, it's not about their sentiments or respect for their religion but it has become a game of superiority, how they can prove that one religion is superior to another and that's sickening.

For one and a half months, protests have been ongoing in multiple states, and amidst such protests where young girls are fighting for something they believe, our political leaders come up with harsh comments such as girls excite boys and the reason why they get raped.

BJP MLA Renukacharya commented on Priyanka Gandhi’s remarks about the fundamental rights of women to wear anything they like which is true.

In our society, no one tells men about what dress they should wear then why should women be taught dressing lessons.

The MLA says because girls wear short dresses they get raped, and because of a mentality of such a kind where men think that women are wearing short dresses to excite them are the ones committing crimes like rape. If you respect women you shouldn't get such thoughts in the first place, and if you have a sick mind then despite the dress you will get all kinds of sick thoughts.

If a leader of our country is with such a kind of mindset then what will he educate others, do we really want such people in a responsible place like that. On one side they want girls to cover themselves entirely but they will not change their mindset about how they should treat women and on the other hand women who want to wear hijab and burqa,  are opposed because they feel it is developing a sense of discrimination.

Such leaders and people in our constitution are a bane for India and will lead India to its destruction.
