Gay couple tortured and dismembered in Mexico
Mexico is a beautiful place to visit with all the festivities, beaches, spicy food, and historic cities. People in Mexico are very fond of their traditions and culture, which is not a bad thing but the impact it has on the diverse sexualities is a major concern.
In the late 19th century, gay sexual activity had been forbidden due to the French influence, and gay couples were executed if they got caught. Though we are living in the 21st century due to a stronghold of catholicism and the prevalence of machismo culture which defines the role of a male and female in society, anything different from that is not accepted.
The Mexican law supports gay marriages and if we consider the changes in the laws made for gay couples, then Mexico has stronger LGBT rights than the US, even then there is a lot of hate, discrimination, and violence towards LGBT communities mostly in the small cities and ruler areas.
Recently a 28yrs old gay couple from texas named Nohemi Medina Martinez and Yulisa Ramirez who were living in El Paso went to visit their family in Ciudad Juarez and never returned.
Their family saw them last on Saturday after which their dismembered bodies were found 17miles apart from each other on Sunday morning at Juares-El Porvenir Road in the neighborhoods of San Agustin and Jesus Carranza by the Chihuahua state office.
The two women were tortured, shot, dismembered, and dumped on the side of the road only because they were homosexual and decided to accept themselves the way they were. They adopted 3 kids who are now orphaned because of a few people who commit crimes in the name of traditions and culture.
The brutal murder shows a clear picture of the hatred ness that people have towards the queer community. This message of hate that the people of Ciudad Juarez want to send the world with such attacks has to stop, as this hate is taking away many innocent lives.
Nobody has the right to teach others how they want to lead their life and with whom they should fall in love with. It’s as natural as a birth of a new life, and nobody can change anyone’s personality and hormones. People are educated but it seems not educated enough to understand this fact, and such people should be definitely punished for trying to control others’ life.
